Vantaggi
Great opportunity to meet medical professionals and learn hands on. The providers go out of their way to help and encourage you.
Svantaggi
The training process is a joke. You will be taught medical terminology from PowerPoint slides, which do not relate to your job once you start charting. The person who trained me was verbally abusive to me on a daily basis and was not disciplined because she was friends with our superior. No training on the platform you will use until your first shift. Most coworkers are friends and so if they don't like you, no one will help you. You're expected to chart on your own two days after being exposed to the EHR program for the first time. The providers are all very nice and accommodating. They appreciate you and want to help you learn. However as I mentioned before, some of your peers are very immature and egotistical when training new hires. My advice to new hires: Ignore the unprofessionalism and stick it out. If the peers don't like you they will set you up for failure. Don't get discouraged if you are struggling. Take notes, get to know some of the providers and ask them questions during downtime. Also study study study!!!
