The pay and benefits are decent. In my area (tech) they allow remote work and embrace it well. This sounds weird to say, but the instability and turnover brings with it opportunity to grow if you want to put in the extra work (and get a little lucky). I was able to take over responsibilities from others that were let go and it ultimately led to a promotion for me. There are a few other people I have seen that have had this outcome as well, although it is admittedly rare.

I have seen no concrete vision for the future. In my opinion, the C levels often speak like politicians. I only hear platitudes and buzzwords, never plans and actions. I believe they are fumbling what could be a great company. They have some really great people across the various orgs, but we lack so much clarity and focus. They know this and have said this themselves, but in three years of working here it has not been resolved. There have been quite a few of my colleagues that have been let go over the last 3 years. I have lived in a state of stress for the last several years wondering if I will have a job and planning my life and finances around expecting to be laid off. I fought hard to get promoted and it took about a year longer than it should’ve taken based on feedback from my manager, but it did eventually happen. The usual way of getting promoted (by doing good work) is pretty rare in my area. It wasn’t always like this. Early on there were quite a few promotions, but recently it is quite rare for me to see anyone promoted. I cannot recommend it to anyone looking for stability or with a “clock in/clock out” mentality (which I think is normal, not endorsing unhealthy work life balance). If you live to work and want to bet on yourself it could be worth it for the potential opportunities that happen due to fairly regular turnover of management.
