Vantaggi
Easy to get in the door as a production assistant. They'll accept you straight out of college, maybe even high school. Occasionally you can get out of the studio and record some off-site shoots (if you're lucky) and it's a much less negative atmosphere.
Svantaggi
Comically high turnover. We got emails literally every single week (borderline daily) "regretfully announcing" the "unfortunate departure" of two or more employees. The response I got when giving my two weeks' notice was "Ugh, another one?" It's clear that nearly everyone hates their jobs, with the exception of the anchors, who are often dismissive and rude. Training is virtually nonexistent. Directors are overworked and unhappy and provide absolutely no feedback beyond occasional yelling on headset if there's a mistake. The pay is awful. Don't even think about taking time off for any reason because the studio is extremely understaffed and Sinclair is unwilling to put any money toward fixing that. News judgment is terrible. Clearly biased news coverage and designed to incite hysteria. (This is not the case for their Spanish broadcasts, which you'll be teleprompting even if you don't speak Spanish!) I've never been in a more awful, miserable work environment. Everyone hates their jobs and you will too. Avoid at all costs.
