This job seemed very interesting when I first interviewed for the position. During this stage I was informed they were not looking for a typical customer service representative. I was informed this opportunity was going to lead me to higher possibilities, along with being a key member of creating the Customer Service Department. Being that I had done something similar at a Fortune 500 company, I was eager to start this $60K Customer Service job. After 4 months of working 80+ hours a week, solely answering customer emails with only 1 day off, I sought out the opportunity to develop the team after learning a lot about this position but was informed I would have to wait a year before making any developmental suggestions. The team was just my manager and I for the majority of time I was there, and this information was not provided to me until this point. Then I understood that Skar Audio did not care about its employees, and just needed members to help keep up with their massive workload, so they will tell you whatever it takes to get you in the door and help them from drowning. You will be put into multiple positions, including your own, without any training and will be belittled along the way for your mistakes. I have seen employees be cursed out by management and the CEO. They were informed the next mistake they make, will be their last (this is mostly within the warehouse). The pressure and hours are not worth the pay of $60K for 80+ hour work weeks, 1 day off, no holidays (correct you will even work Christmas Day), or healthcare, and only 5 days of PTO. Once you do the math, the pay is not worth the cost of your life for a company that cannot retain its employees, because they do not value you as a human being.
