Vantaggi

I think one of the only pros about working here was the location and the new staff/friends you could meet.

Svantaggi

If you are considering working here, I’d think hard about what you are looking for in management. The housing is dilapidated, often with live mice or rats living and dropping there. The management is often disrespectful and close minded. The culture surrounding work at Soaring is one of dishonesty and threats.

Nothing out ways the cons

Svantaggi

The free housing is run down cabins from the 50s 60s. They are infested with rats and rat poop everywhere. Which they obviously DO NOT tell you when you ask about housing nor will they share pictures of the housing for very obvious reasons once you arrive. Phillip will tell you it’s “rustic” living but I guarantee the health department would have other things to say. They also knew I had a dog coming with me and there was a plate of rat poisoning laying on the ground of the cabin. The communication for 3months before arriving is poor to say the least. We were picked up around 4 or 5 in the afternoon and wasn’t told until we were on property that we were not going to be fed that night. Phillip likes to parade around talking about respect but when he sits you down after 2 days of “training” and tells you that things are not going to work out and your stuff needs to be out by the train tracks within the next few hours so they can get you off property and you ask for reasoning for firing he repeats “it’s just not going to workout” and gets up and leaves (after the fact reading plenty of other reviews that have said the same thing). Not super respectful in my opinion. The vibes were just off from the beginning. The family that runs it is very conservative and definitely not respectful of queer individuals (referring to encounter with Dionne and one of my transitioning coworkers). Also for being in the middle of the wilderness and require first aid, CPR & AED certs to have the job they don’t have much if something were to actually happen and they definitely don’t have an AED on property. It was made clear by Dionne that Denny (the founder of this company) had them all removed years ago from the property. Another practice that’s most likely unethical and the national forest wouldn’t appreciate is they collect all the food scraps from meals and go drive them a mile out and let the bears feed off of piles of the scraps. Don’t waste your time here it’s not worth it especially if you are from out of town and waste your money driving for days and had other job offers for more respectable companies. The money is not worth it trust me. There’s a reason they have such a low max of guests on property per day….they can’t keep staff. The number of guests is a 1/3 of what they used to take when the company first started doing zip lining. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
