I submitted my resignation on my lunch break 2 weeks ago. After almost two years, I hit my breaking point. This job was making me ill. Unrealistic expectations, favoritism, lack of upholding the core values, work long hours past closing time with no lunch but not reciprocated if you have a situation, lack of truly caring for the patient and the outcome of their exam. Even if the patient doesn’t need glasses, the pressure is to generate $ by selling glasses. Leadership in my experience leaned heavily toward micromanagement, with limited empowerment of experienced team members. Requests for basic operational knowledge were sometimes declined, which created unnecessary barriers to doing the job effectively when leadership was unavailable. I could write a book. Bypass Stanton Optical in order to maintain a work/life balance and a healthy mental status.
