Three words describe the current state of State Farm: Nepotism, Paranoia, Narcissism. The nepotism within the company ( A Fortune 50 company located in a city less than 100,000 people, who have families who’ve worked there for generations) breeds contempt from many of the less fortunate employees. But, when those who are lucky enough do get promoted, their bosses scare them into a mental illness state of paranoia to where they now promoting psychopaths into management that have nothing better than to do, but to have 1 on 1’s with you to tell you that you put too many periods or words in a claim file note. It’s a joke. They treat adults like children, regardless of age. Then, after they’ve been in management for a while, they become extreme narcissist. They know there is no where else that people can go in Bloomington, IL and make what they are making with those benefits. It goes without saying, mental illness on both sides of the spectrum runs rampant. There are wide reports of the former CEO being removed from campus due to an argument with how the new CEO has messed the place up. Under Ed Rust, it was a great company; he cared and lead!

(At the time) Fair pay and predictable bonus structure They were pretty good at covering travel expenses and paying them back quickly Diverse workforce & diversity initiatives Fun and funny coworkers Opportunities for growth Again, this was all four years ago and has likely changed

(At the time and now, according to other comments) Arrogant to a fault Total lack of innovation & willingness to innovate Odd attachment to the company's past (which prevents progress) High number of veterans (20+ years) who are determined to get that retirement money, and therefore, are resistant to change and technology Heavy reliance on command and control management style Poor decision-making that leads to losses of all kinds
