Vantaggi
You work from home- using the internet, electricity, and computer that you pay for out of your $15/hour hourly wages
Svantaggi
Corporate management consistently disregards, disrespects, and mentally abuses stylists. They have leached all fun and creativity out of this job. Do not work for this company. For example: 1. They cut off ways for stylists to talk to each other, siloing us like an abuser does so we can compare notes, seek support, or air our grievances. It's a blatant sign that they're doing something wrong and trying to stifle us from speaking up. 2. They demand they we're available for 20 hours but don't commit to a minimum number of hours that we'll get. Some weeks we receive 5 hours and some we're asked to work more than 20. You never know what it will be, you don't have any say or flexibility in the process, and the paycheck isn't reliable. There were weeks this summer when I received <$100 net per week. It's far from a living wage. 3. This used to be a flexible job but now we have to work between 8am and 8pm and have to schedule everything down to the minute. You schedule your "styling" time to build the fixes and write the notes and then you schedule you "core" (aka non-styling) time to read emails (so many emails), review policies, etc. 4. The managers (aka leads) are very sweet and kind, but add no value and a lot of headache to the stylist role. They carry on the toxic positivity that headquarters is known for. It doesn't matter what you say or what issues you respectfully bring to light- nothing will change. They'll listen and promise to share that with their manager, and you'll never hear about it again. In the meantime, you'll receive many (many) gif and emoji filled cheery emails from them that are a waste of time and just regurgitate the ten email posts you received from headquarters that day. 5. We used to be able to work our hours whenever we wanted to/needed to during the day. It was amazing. Now you have to schedule your week down to the minute by the weekend before and only work 8am - 8pm. Stylists were very upset about this- it was the main/only benefit of the job. We aired our concerns to managers, corporate leaders, anyone that would listen. They essentially patted us on the head and told us to suck it up or leave. This role will be replaced by algorithms completely soon anyway.
