SureWest was acquired by Consolidated Communications just as I was leaving due to a disability that didn't allow me to return. The local culture in Roseville is derived from the original Roseville Telephone Company which began because ATT would not bring "long distance" telephone lines 20 miles from Sacramento in the 1920's. So there is a huge pride in this local company, regardless of who the corporate entity is.
Today, I spoke to an employee who said that although some structure has changed, Consolidated Communications has treated people very well and maintained a good corporate employee-centric culture. When I was injured on the job, it was absolutely amazing regarding the level of care and concern at which they approached me on every level.
I'd work for them again, if I could.

Not much. They recruit well from within, have a corporate structure that encourages employee growth. From my sales position point of view, they are excellent.
