The managers are mostly ego driven and will punish you for saying anything against their expectations. Even if you always be submissive and do your work, they will provide whatever rating they decide. Irrespective of what you did or how much work was done and given. You HAVE to say yes this is good or yes I will do. No matter how much nonsensical they talk. Even 1 day sick leave they will talk like you are faking. But this is some managers only. Some other managers do their work and just don't make it hard for engineers.
