Vantaggi

Good tea. Good people. Good pay (when you actually get proper hours) People think it’s a good job to have. (Some even seem jealous).

Svantaggi

Awful hours-0 hour contract is the worst. Quite a lot of the time you only work three hours a day whilst managers/team leaders always work 9 hours a day, which might seem obvious, but it means you come in for 6 days a week and still get paid less than a team leader who’s there for 3 days a week. No consistency- you have no idea when or where you’ll be working. Difficult to plan other things around work. No proper employment benefits. No matter what they tell you. Constant pressure to make a sale. There’s a scoreboard for sales etc. But most team leaders just sit on the till and get the best sales records whilst the shop floor members are ACTUALLY making the sale but get no credit in terms of upper management seeing it. Whoever puts the sale through is the one that gets the credit. Tea can be WAY overpriced for the quality it is and having to worm your way through sales can be strenuous. Most training sessions are pointless and happen in store until 10:30pm it’s constantly about approaching customers etc. Not really much about the actual overpriced tea you’re selling. Deals/promotions are over-complicated. So many rules. It’s confusing for the customers and even people who have worked for years. I could honestly go on and on....

Vantaggi

The customer base was great to work with. Training was fairly simple and you got to learn many different sales techniques that let you progress further. You were taught a lot about the subject and during lockdown they took advantage of this and would have meetings via Teams so they could still pay us.

Svantaggi

Unfortunately there weren't many hours, meeting the quota on slow days in a coffee centric area was difficult and they mostly sold loose leaf. There were no benefits for part-time even if they ended up working full-time hours.
