Vantaggi
I don't think it would be possible to make this much money, part-time and as a student anywhere else. I've been able to pay off my entire tuition over 5 years while working here. Depending on the volume of your location, you can make some serious money off commission! TELUS also has an amazing culture. Tons of charitable events.
Svantaggi
There are A LOT of politics. For a simple Sales Rep. position, there's definitely a lot going on. There's also been a change in the availability requirements that you MUST be available on weekends, and 3 days from Monday to Friday (with one opening shift Monday or Tuesday) and be available for a total of 36 hours a week. It's pretty ridiculous considering most part-timers are in school and meeting this is next to impossible! Lucky for me, I fast-tracked through school so I don't have a full course load. Any full time students taking 6+ courses may have some serious difficulty with meeting these requirements. Also, in 2012, there was a DRASTIC cut to part-time benefits. We went from having full regular benefits to a $750 health spending account. While I understand that TELUS was quite generous before with benefits for part-time staff, the change to the HSA was sudden and uncalled for and was poorly executed. Even for part-time staff that have been with the company for 5+ years, they get the same benefits as someone who got hired yesterday. Finally, good luck getting any kind of promotion if you're not full time. It won't happen.
