Consistently rates as one of the best employers to work for in Canada. Things that stand out for me are: Decent vacation allotment - not outrageous, but starting out at three weeks is pretty good. Very good benefits package and internal employee support through employee assistance programs. Very good retirement plan and employee share plan. Number 1 Philanthropic corporation on the planet for 2009 - and that's something to be very proud of! Where possible, meritocracy prevails (union may be somewhat different with seniority playing a more substantial part.) Wages are somewhat lower than industry but there's always a balance with all of the other HR initiatives there for employees. Good learning & development support.

On the negative side, performance-based compensation tends to get very poorly applied and managed (either Sales Incentive or MVRP), which can cause significant hard feelings with high performers who should be appropriately rewarded.
