Vantaggi
As a field service engineer you get to experience many of the awesome sights, sounds, and smells that most people have on a bucket list. I have seen it all from Griffith Observatory in L.A. to Times Square in NYC, the Vizcaya Mansion in Miami to Mt. Saint Helens in Washington state. You coexist with all of the different cultures and people of this great nation and the different foods you get to eat that comes with is amazing. TRUMPF allows you to stay in higher quality hotels, I choose the IHG group myself as they have not only the most hotels nationwide but the absolute best points program as well! You're able to get nice car rentals and you upgrade quickly, same for a frequent flyer program. So all in all, the travel is above par for other companies that require such heavy travel. I personally like how challenging working on this technology can be as well as seeing the unique and eclectic mix of products our customers create. From John Deere and Boeing to ProSteel in Utah that makes some of the worlds finest Browning gun safes. TRUMPF offers 6% match on 401k accounts, paid cell phone bill, laptop, and in some cases, depending on location, company vehicles that you're allowed to use for personal use as well. They truly take care of all expense needs for tooling and items that simply make you're job easier. They want their employees to be happy and constantly strive to modify different things that benefit their employees. You are paid for travel time as well and it's very easy to get 60-70 or even more hours per week, overtime being paid, and have 30 hours of it be travel time. Overall, a truly great company to work for given you yourself and if applicable, your family, don't mind all the travel and sacrifices that comes with such a high demanding job.
Svantaggi
To be truly successful at this job, and not exactly a con, you must have a certain degree of education as well as a willingness to learn new technology methods as time and TRUMPF machines advance. You will very frequently work hard all day and travel all night only to do it all over again the very next day and sometimes for days on end. With that being said you must maintain a certain level of fitness I'd say to do this job comfortably because it's certainly not for the weak or lazy but at least it's paid travel time.
