It's a shame to see such a great place regularly pulled underwater by tyrannical actions from the top. Despite rapidly growing several hundred percent over the last year, we still have awesome teams with plenty of great people. While managers still have too much on their plate, they are real people that are a joy to work for and with. It goes without saying that the work itself is exciting and unique, with the reality of a flying car growing right in front of you. We're still the right size that each of us have the opportunity to make significant contributions to a project that will soon turn into reality. There is a lot of real engineering work going on here, and the goal of getting this up in the air seems achievable very soon. I am still very happy here and do not regret my decision to join Terrafugia at all, I think we still have many exciting opportunities ahead, but I came to write this review because I have seen some recent actions that I think threaten our success to exist as a competitive tech company in the area if changes are not made soon...

Can you imagine a Boston tech company in 2018 where the CEO stands at the doorway and literally reprimands anyone who walks in every minute past 9AM? This company is unique in a few ways, most significantly that it has grown from 20 to 120 people here in a very short time. We all wish some of that startup culture could be preserved but it seems decisions keep coming "from the top" to kill it. Never have I worked for a company before that is so worried about liability, refusal to hold any social event during work hours let alone let employees enjoy themselves with a drink. We have seemingly infinite funding, allowing us to spend on the many expensive tools and software we need to achieve this task, yet there is so much red tape it is often impossible to obtain permission to get a laptop or even a USB cable. We still desperately need more engineers to achieve our schedule yet it seems we can't leverage those funds to hire the right people and in the right numbers. It's painful to read other comments here on the CEO, because we know they are all true. Aside from some overarching decisions, he usually does not affect most of us directly. However lately he has been on a tear, dictating commands without reason and demanding instant action. Not to your face, of course, as the CEO won't dare speak to underlings, but will stare at you and your environment then send a minion along to assert the command.
