Vantaggi

This industry brings an incredible community of people together both employees and patrons. Highly recommend for entry and sales positions temporarily.

Svantaggi

The wishes and dreams of the owners come at the expense of all of its employees in a negative way. Rob is particular in everything being perfect which he and management come down hard on you for when something isn’t right even though you were never trained on it. Also, the building isn’t designed for the expansion of hosting guest outside so employees often have to work with poorly built structures that don’t even function properly. Therefore more work goes onto employees to constantly setup and brake down. I didn’t appreciate the requirement for coming into a shift and then being forced to take my lunch break 30 minutes into being there. In the last couple of years a mass exodus occurred which is no surprise.

Vantaggi

The employees at the winery are generally very nice and the property is beautiful. I made friends I still keep from my time there. Specifically, the events team is usually very nice to the general staff, who often also have to work late.

Svantaggi

Unresponsive and unfriendly management practices. Did not feel valued as an employee or contributor. I worked there for 3 summers (9 months total) and even by the third summer, after becoming old enough to work tastings and consistently pushing to be allowed to try out a sales ethic, I was continuously denied the opportunity, as it was frequently given to older individuals as completely new hires. I saw this as a consistent demonstration of ageism against me. Furthermore, as a GWW you will spend hours and hours polishing glasses, often working long past all the management has gone home. There is a very clearly a dominant hierarchical relationship between management and employees and low level employees were almost never engaged by the owners (despite it being a relatively small business and the owners being around all day. It honestly took me working in other environments for me to recognize how exploitative this felt. Do not recommend.
