Vantaggi
The pay was really good
Svantaggi
Keep in mind that TT is a huge company - this only applies to the Disaster Recovery (TDR) part of the organization. With that caveat I can honestly say this was the worst experience of my life. I once spent a summer pumping unspeakable things out of construction trenches and this was worse. They lied to me about the working conditions. Let’s go through them: 1. They said they would deploy us to the disaster site for 2-4 weeks where we’d work pretty much constantly, and then they’d fly us home for 2 weeks. Not true. It was all day every day 6 days a week, and then we still had to do some work on our day off. 2. The project was located in Quincy, CA. They had us stay in Reno, NV. That’s a 1.5 hour drive each way. On top of that they had us working 14 hour days. We were walking zombies. We had to choose between sleeping and eating. There was housing in Quincy, but they wouldn’t put us there because it “might not have reliable internet.” That was never once an issue. 3. I didn’t participate in this bit, but healthcare cost more than a thousand dollars a month. 4. They tried to get us to alter our time sheets to minimize the amount of OT/double pay. 5. This was after I left, but after mass protests from the staff they finally brought everyone to Quincy. But not the nice housing at the compound. Instead some people got trailers in the woods without running potable water. 6. It was the most incompetent management I’ve ever experienced. Words cannot describe how bad it was. 7. Their accounting system was the worst. It took months for expense reports to be paid. When I started they said I’d be paid weekly. Then after I didn’t get paid one week they decided that I was getting paid biweekly. They’re also required to give a final paycheck within a certain amount of time, but they didn’t. 8. The final cherry on top: when I left, for my flight back home they chose the cheapest United tickets possible (they have some deal with them I think). This gave me a 20 minute layover at LAX, which is not enough time. So of course I missed my flight and got to spend an extra 6 hours in LA.
