Vantaggi

A paycheck and a chance for a regular full time job. I was hired temporary as that was the only way to get hired in at the present time. Hopefully this will turn out all right, the pay is decent for the job, and the benefits seem like they would be good if I become a regular employee and are eligible for them. Everyone in HR seems really friendly and they put on an impressive orientation show. You feel like you will be working for the best company in America when you have completed their training(28 hours for me so far)

Svantaggi

They spend all this time pumping you up for the job and making you watch hours and hours of computer training video's, only to get out on the floor and realize you don't have any practical instruction. They don't tell you that because vendors come in and do most of the work there is nothing to take pride in. No display you built, no idea you had for a sales promotion carried out. The job is really nothing more than a sales job. That's hard for anyone who likes to think and plan and create. If you like being a sales robot this is the job for you.

Vantaggi

The Home Depot has a solid moral compass. They aren't about sacrificing their ethics for the sake of a sale, which I love. They also hire a diverse group of people and give a lot back to the community. They offer a lot of benefits and little treats for their employees. Although they push their associates to meet quota, they're realistic about what can and can't be accomplished.

Svantaggi

Home Depot has two different sides to it. Store associates and those of us considered "store support" who are payed by the vendors but work in the stores 100% of the time. I constantly hear about how store associates are stressed out by management and their hours are being rearranged a lot, cut, and they often are stretched thin due to lack of full staffing. "Store support" associates who do merchandising have it better than those who work in specific departments. However, you never really gain knowledge unless you have the time to look things up and read packaging.
