If you are good at your job you will be punished by the workload. Managers will allow their favorites to claim your cases for closes so that you can be put on a PIP. If you speak a second language, be expected to have all calls funneled to you, and no you won't be compensated for it. You will be the last to know when new features or issues arise, and will have to figure out how to respond on the fly. Don't fall for the inclusivity marketing, read the company reviews by ethnicity. They only treat whites and Asians well. You will be treated like you are responsible for the mistakes of the third party business partners. Third party business partners are recycled to different positions rather than terminated so expect to deal with the same bad employees over and over. If you go to HR especially if it regards a manager expect the complaint to be buried and that you will be "struggling to meet standards" soon after. I was less depressed during war than I was at this job. Easily one of the most toxic work environments I have ever experienced.

The benefits and health insurance are amazing and the company culture as a whole is very positive. It was a pleasure to work with almost everyone I met in my time there.

Lower management, especially for care teams, deeply lacks integrity. Retaliatory practices, lack of communication, and failure to adhere to their own policies are very common behavior depending on who your manager is. The inconsistencies across what is expected from leadership are profound and it is disappointing how much this can derail your career trajectory at Toast. It’s also very difficult to help customers at times, as Toast is notorious for launching new products at customers and providing little to no support to agents that are then expected to troubleshoot using sparse or nonexistent resources and absolutely no training. Cross-collaboration with teams that occasionally intersect is also very challenging, particularly Sales/Onboarding and Care. There were many instances where sales and onboarding specialists set customers up with false expectations of the product, which leaves care teams to deal with the aftermath.
