Vantaggi
When I first interviewed with TQL I was not that impressed and was very skeptical of the job but I needed a position so I took the job. However after just a week of working I am extremely impressed with the company. As everyone else has said the work force is all extremely young, basically no one older than 35 which can be viewed as a frat boy environment. That said if you are in the same demographic young and male its a very enjoyable atmosphere for a professional. The technology is extremely impressive and is probably the one part of TQL that if I had known in better detail before being hired I would have been excited to accept this job. The technology is state of the art and takes a massive amount of stress away from a very stressful and crazy industry. My personal management does not micro manage in the slightest and I feel zero pressure about going out for lunch and if our work is done for the day we are encouraged to not work as hard for the rest of the day. I am sure some of this will change when I begin prospecting for customers but even then you are in charge of your own business so I will probably take shorter lunch breaks and rarely not work the full 7:45-5:15, which is only half an hour longer than a typical 8-5. As much as other companies talk about "training", its rarely actually useful training and while some of the training so far has been mundane the rest has been very useful as I had zero logistics experience coming into TQL. As far as the 6 months of training yes you run an account for your broker but this is still a very large part of the business. If you cannot book loads or sell the freight to trucks then theres no way you will be successful so this is extremely valuable to anyone who actually wants to learn how to be a freight broker which as someone else said, this is job is 100% a freight broker in training.
Svantaggi
Its of course stressful as many elements are 100% out of your control and the risk is higher than most industries but the return is also great. The work life balance is not amazing but again the typical work hours are 7:45-8:15 which is only half an hour longer than a typical 8-5 and its very rare you find a salaried job that has less than 50 hours. Benefits are not amazing but still reasonable for an entry level position. PTO is also reasonable for a position like this, not horrible but not great either.
