Vantaggi
Flexible schedule, overall nice co-workers and relatively easy work.
Svantaggi
When you are a new employee there is no training, no handbook, no guidelines, no standards, no rules... nothing. I have never dealt with a University that had so little to offer with regard to structure and organization. The courses seem to be haphazardly put together with no real thought behind it. It is a degree mill, unfortunately. It does not seem that the students are truly worth more than the money they spend to the institution. For an adjunct position, it is so much more work than the compensation if you actually want to be a good instructor and care about your students. Onboarding was a nightmare with no orientation, information on how things work at this University, etc. Nothing. If I didn't constantly ask questions, I wouldn't have had my tax paperwork, ID card, parking pass, etc. I have had to be the person to manage and navigate being an employee there with little guidance, just really good guessing. No employee, certainly not one being paid so little, should have to do that. It was like feeling around in the dark since day one.
