Vantaggi

UPS is a farm system. The more time with them you have, the more of an asset you'll be. The pay and benefits only come with time. For Union workers It takes 18 months to get insurance for yourself. 24 for dependents. However, the insurance is exceptionally well for the work you do. Perhaps the best insurance in Louisville period. Pay increases with time. 35 to 50 cents every August and February after you have finished your probationary period. Metro College program that can pay for college completely. (Louisville only)

Svantaggi

Very few full-time positions for union or management. Union keeps you employed however, you pay union dues every third Thursday of the month. When you start, you are making paychecks around 80 to 110 dollars a week. You have to pay union initiation and monthly fees that destroys your already painfully small paycheck. Most of the jobs are at night. Most part time and full time supervisors are okay but it is the high upper management who come out of nowhere (Particularly during peak season) and start telling you to change the way you work because they don't work in the trucks and feeders and just look at how it is in the book and demand they you change. There is the book and then there is reality. However, they usually leave after one day. Management from part time supervisor and up are not part of the union and therefore, not part of the union. They lose the protection and union insurance. Unless they want to pay 2,000 dollars for it. Part time sups are just glorified quality trainers. However, if you want to work full time professional jobs at UPS, 98% of them have to pay their dues working low pay part time sup jobs. Most work areas are loud and provide no ear protection. Only workers who work outside get ear protection. Very hard to balance school or second day jobs. Don't rely solely on Metro College to pay for college because if you don't have a loan, grant or other form of payment to make to the school at the beginning of the semester and you fail a class or make a D, UPS won't pay for that class and lots of people doing this fail because they can't handle night shift and day school and UofL or JCC won't allow you to resign for the following semester because of your debt. Back yourself up. You might realize halfway through a semester that you can't handle night shift and school. Choose school by making sure you're still covered with school.

Vantaggi
