Contributing to something bigger than yourself that makes an impact, the training and job experience can vary job to job, but mostly will be the best you can get without a degree. College benefits are outstanding, absolutely the best. You can make so many great networks and connections for your career for when you leave active duty. There is no perfect health care system, but Tricare is the closest... they will take care of you. You meet awesome people from all walks of life, races, ethnicities, religions, creeds, genders, and lifestyles... it's pretty amazing to get exposure to so many different people, and admiring each other's differences, but not caring about differences because at times all that matters is that you have each other's backs when in a situation where you are dependent on them. Getting paid to work out! THE TRAVEL!!! Sure, you might have to go to places that suck sometimes, but the people make those places awesome, and the awesome places you can go make it all worth it. You'll do and see things you never imagined... it's not like the movies... nor the video games, but it still has it's awesome moments.

Being away from family and friends (but hey, you get to make new ones! And there are these things like facebook, insta, snap, and skype, and you get 30 vacy days every year!!!), long hours (what else would you REALLY be doing?), in the beginning the pay is not so great, but it quickly gets better and they will meet all of your basic needs at any rank, you get stuck speaking a language no one understands... all of the acronyms, working out when all you want is a cupcake, being volentold (you'll hear that word a lot, and you might even have to be the one to volentell people too), working with so many different types of people can be awesome but can also mean you work with those that might not be the sharpest tools in the shed... in some jobs it may be more common than others, font-line supervising is more like babysitting because you're responsible for them both on and off duty... There are tons of cons, but they are mostly minor or temporary and the pros make it so worth it.
