the retirement plan in the benefits is the best I have seen so far. Medical insurance it is good but if you want to save money you are pushed to use VCU doctors and facilities. You can save money if you use the employee pharmacy. Good place to start if you don't have too much experience, but keep in mind there is a lot of the gossip and drama.

low pay rate to compare to all the other hospitals and medical groups. Very bad management. The main hospital is very old and inpatient units have technical issues that require everyday repair, from medical equipment to structural components. A lot of problems with all the important items supply. In the last 5 years they tried to solve the central supply issues but they are still working on it and that leaves the staff to improvise to find the supply. In many units the work environment is really toxic with a lot of drama and gossip and the management does nothing to fix it. Many people are leaving therefore there is double work for who remains. The training for new hired is left to luck.. if you are lucky you can find a good nurse or a good program support assistant who can train you well. I personally had to train myself in many tasks and that meant working double time. Very high turn over between units because of bad management. Nepotism and favoritism are present in half of the hospital . Not a favorable place if you want to have a career: it is not who you are it is who you know.
