Vantaggi
Lots of PTO, decent benefits, 401k matching. Great if you’re looking for stability.
Svantaggi
The company seems to be about 20 years behind and really caters to the older workforce. Many people have been in the same individual contributor jobs for 10+ years. It’s very unmotivating trying to advance in your career while watching the lifers do the bare minimum to get by. I learned a lot of soft skills but zero software specific skills that would help me outside of the company. A lot of new focus and time spent on “new ways of working,” when all that’s really needed is better pay, remote work programs, and meaningful incentives. Too many levels of leaders- especially people who are not qualified to be leaders. Promotions are determined by your ability to memorize perfect answers to star questions and recite them back. Vanguard is fine is you’re 40+ and want a steady career, but as a young person out of college, it was excruciatingly boring here. Don’t get trapped and find somewhere else that provides challenges and has learning opportunities for useful skills.
