Incompetent and inappropriate management. The so called SW development side of the house, I have never seen a more discouraging work environment. You have dinosaurs who have been around with the company for years and years who have cushy jobs but do not know how to manage their business requirements with the development teams. The developers work very long hours depending on their departments. Lot's of "good old boys" running around there who need to retire, not because of their age but because of their mentality. I was not blown away by their technology, it is old and they seem to struggle with keeping up with the modern market. I want to remain respectful but I was NOT impressed with the Engineering Management Staff. Unprofessional and some of them seemed to be in over their heads. Their Agile Sprint Plannings are ridiculous. I have been at other companies who do Portfolio Planning in half a day and they are a larger international company with co-located staff. Verimatrix turns their planning sessions into Olympic Challenges over days at a time.
