There are multiple concerns with this administrative level. It appears to be biased in favor of ingroup members, and there is a noticeable lack of appreciation from the Dean’s Office for contributions made by others. The overall environment is toxic, and the Dean seems primarily self-interested.
Federal law prohibits discrimination in hiring practices based on national origin, age, race, ethnicity, and other protected categories. However, this office appears to disregard these standards, allowing such biases to influence its hiring decisions.
The Dean lacks genuine credibility as a leader and instead seems to foster division and control. This administrative level seems more willing to lose talented individuals in order to preserve a toxic status quo, rather than support and develop them. Overall, it is a dim and dysfunctional unit, producing negative outcomes instead of fostering positive growth. Unfortunately, the CEO of the VSU disregards the toxicity completely and many university members file complaints in the court!
