There were too many competing priorities

Quickly learned energy markets rules and procedures in this position. However 80% of training comes from personal education (reading manuals and tariffs, researching etc). If the plan is to stay within the energy industry then I would recommend this job, because things you learn here will be valuable wherever you go within energy, and you will start from higher tiers of positions and salaries. However if you're looking to keep your options open industry-wise, then stay away. Great people/team to work with. Managers are easy to get along with and respectful. Good location. Overall a happy work place.

Job is too easy. Benefits are bad. No bonuses. There is no opportunity to climb the corporate ladder, nor is there opportunity to take initiative. Different shift schedules are very boring! As exciting as this job gets during hot days, it gets just as boring during your late night shift where you're watching 1 monitor for a few hours. Upper management always fight. There is always GOSSIP! which I HATED the most. It is impossible to stay away from gossip. Working in the operations department is looked down upon, very obviously, by everybody. Which I don't blame anybody for. Again, job is too easy. But it's a startup company, and most peoples jobs here are easy. Politics are HUGE here. If you play it well, you are good at your job. Be prepared for everybody just walking down to your department to learn about the markets. You're pretty much a market trainer. Pay is very low, they know it, they will higher your salary everytime somebody leaves the operations department though. Most people that left this job, started with almost double their current salaries, including myself.
