The benefits are good- medical, dental, 401K, etc. The discount was not huge, but applied to items on sale as well, so you could get some really good deals. You learn to work in all departments, including pharmacy, photo- so you will learn some trades that you may not normally experience in a retail establishment. I had some wonderful coworkers, hard working dedicated people.

Where do I start? Overall, this position is not much of a management one; you have minimal opportunity to truly manage people. Primary duties were freight, stockroom, shelving, merchandising, and some cash handling. Communication between the store's leadership was very fragmented and thus quite ineffective. A store manager may meet with you one-on-one, but the lack of any weekly team meeting makes it hard to have everyone on the same page. Work/Life balance?- not a chance. If there is one in your market, you'll be placed in a 24 hour location and have to rotate through a 10 hour long, seven conecutive days, graveyard shifts. You can, and will, be moved from one store to another with just a day's notice. I often would be scheduled shifts that were less than 9 hours apart, making it impossible to get a decent night's rest in between. Time off requests were never approved in advance, and as soon as they moved you to a new store the request process started over. You will work most holidays, the stores never close so expect it. I have to say, I joined this company with high hopes of building a great career, and left it feeling somewhat used and misled.

Can be a fun environment. All in whom your staff is. Operating photo was fun and building projects for the customers. Learning about pharmacy operations.

Work life balance and low pay for what is expected. Not having enough payroll to effectively run a store. My store ran FE on a 320 hour a week budget. That was barely enough to get buy and meet the expectations put out by the company. I was never able to keep a full leadership staff. When a leader called out, I had to stay. There were days I was called away from my own dinner table. SM's were forced to be in the pharmacy for more than half of their day regardless as to what is happening in the FE. I worked over 50 hours a week and barely got to spend time with my family. If I wasn't at the store I was getting a phone call and having to go back to the store.
