I applied for social media marketing specialist and was transparent about my skills and past work. They offered me a position as marketing coordinator and I entered in at a beginner salary. I accepted and thought that my primary focus would be on social media marketing. Every day I was bombarded with other marketing/ graphic design tasks that “needed to be completed immediately” therefore getting in the way of any social media marketing content and strategy implementation. I was let go b/c I wasn’t “fast enough” after 1 week and 6 days. They micro-manage you and make you sit in meetings for an hour or over discussing new ideas that they expect you to add to your existing workload but giving you no realistic time frame of when things should be done. Also they gave me an old PC to work on with 0 design software installed so I had to bring in my own Mac desktop to use.
