Vantaggi
Pay based on seniority. Is that a pro? Bonuses when the store does well since its employee owned. Extra pay for overnight employees. $30 a month for insurance after you qualify (single adult) I'm trans and use they/them pronouns, most people have been respectful of that to my face, aside from two interactions with coworkers.
Svantaggi
No hazard pay. No communication about covid precautions even a year into the pandemic. Bonuses only ever come in the form of a WinCo gift card. Most managers and employees don't wear their masks properly or at all in the backroom, definitely not a safe place for high risk people. They don't offer any other services for disabled people to buy groceries, so a lot of people shop without a mask. Anyone can say they have asthma and unfortunately my store has been tagged as a safe space for anti maskers. It doesn't seem like anyone actually read the ADA. Poor communication in general. Sick pay doesn't come often, really have to ration it. There is no in store HR representative to talk to if you have any problems. You have to call a hotline and speak to a disembodied stranger. If you have ADHD and anxiety like me, it's really difficult to do so, especially when you are in a situation where you would need to speak with HR. If you try to email, they tell you to call. There is no security team overnight, and sometimes no assistant store manager, just lead clerks.
