First of all, management in this office was changed about a year ago because people were unhappy with the previous management. Well, now people are unhappy with the current management. During the raise review process that is currently happening, both management and HR refuse to acknowledge any of the problems and complaints that are being brought up. Corporate says that things can't be fixed if we don't talk to HR. Well, we are, and he is ignoring it all just like our director does. Also, on more than one occasion, issues have been brought to his attention by coworkers that he has done nothing about or has requested that the employee works with the other person to resolve the issue. This has included more than one issue that would have gotten someone fired at any other company. Employees are severely underpaid for what they tolerate from our clients and the amount of time they put in. People work through their lunch breaks because that's the only way we'll be able to leave at 5 but, because of break policies, we still put on our time sheets that we are taking a lunch. Hardly anyone takes the 2 10-minute breaks that we're allowed each day. Last year saw around 20 employees leave, and the office was under a hiring freeze. So everyone else had to take on that work load. Yet no one seems to believe that we're over-worked because some of us find a way to not work a ton of overtime. A lot of us have kids we need to pick up or just don't feel we get paid enough to stay late. They did finally start hiring again, but they've only hired 4 people so far. That really doesn't make up for the disaster that has happened over the past 2 years, where people have left in droves. The office is trying to improve morale via free food and events, but it's pointless when your employees are so over-worked that they can't leave their desk to enjoy any of it. Our biggest competitor, where a lot of former employees went when they left here, pays more and lets people work from home. Finally, previous supervisor roles were filled from the outside. One of the things that they really promote during the interview process is the growth opportunities available, yet hardly anyone is ever promoted to an upper-level position. Some promotions that happened recently were nothing more than a change to the wording of their position, to align with corporate instead of having our own naming system.

If I were asked pros of this company in 2020 I would fill this entire space. Since COVID the company culture completely changed toward the negative. They have good affordable health and dental insurance. You get to leave 2 hours early on the day before a holiday. They will provide lunch in office once a week. You get to work a hybrid WFH schedule. They invest in your 401k whether you contribute or not.

Their pay is below market. I was a TAM and could have made $20k more per year with another company but wanted to stay with yardi because they weren’t publicly traded and were more stable. The culture became more stressful and toxic after covid. Yardi began a partnership with wework (see Hulu documentary) and then wework went belly up which yardi had to bail them out of. As a result yardi spent millions of dollars. To offset this terrible decision, Yardi started quietly firing people within the company. Basically, they were eliminating “overhead” without calling it layoffs because the word layoff scares clients and they’ll start looking for another software to use.
