Dear BP/Thorntons, I’m being asked to continue doing the exact same job, with the same expectations, I have to pay the same amount of Insurnace, while my annual pay is being cut by $15,000—and all because of a reduced 40-hour week. That’s not just a financial adjustment. That’s a major blow to someone supporting a family of four. I guess I was foolish for believing in your CORE Values that you always preach. I have a wife who suffers from a chronic illness and is unable to work. We have five-year-old twin girls who are about to start kindergarten. Every dollar matters to us. Cutting my hours is cutting my livelihood—and it’s hard to believe any company that values its employees could stand behind that kind of decision. It’s a slap in the face after the hard work I’ve put in to help this company get where it is today. I’ve watched other great employees get forced out, and now it’s clear that loyalty and dedication don’t mean much here anymore. This decision is deeply upsetting for me, because I truly thought I’d be with this company for the long haul. I’ve always taken pride in my work, and I love the people I work with.
