As with most places, the people are the best thing.

The CEO - he doesn't empower or trust his teams. His only aim is about reducing cost - rather than growth, building better services or products and creating a happy environment for his workers. Every dept/team is so under resourced (which has been happening for years) are stressed out and completely demoralised. Seeing colleagues crying is a common event. Every project is setup for failure due to unrealistic targets / lack of resources and low investment. This creates a toxic environment, where teams look for scapegoats and conflicts become commonplace. This in turn makes growing and improving processes/systems/products extremely difficult and frustrating, with customers getting a much poorer service and sales teams struggling. The CEO/company could look at the failures as an opportunity to learn, but these learnings get brushed under the carpet as it soon becomes clear whom really is to blame. The benefits package is very poor - 1% max for pension. Maternity package is statutory - the lowest a company can offer. The company doesn't offer yearly inflationary pay rises - so unless someone leaves and you get promoted into the position, your salary will not change. As mentioned there are some good people that are trying to make a difference, but they tend to leave after a while realising that nothing will change while the CEO is still in power.

My intern supervisor was fantastic as was her immediate team, there were fun events to engage with coworkers and people in the industry

No interaction outside of 2-3 people, not a cohesive work environment, staff feel overworked and unhappy which leads to high turnover which I noticed immediately, no room to advance, could be catty
