I started out as a VOD scheduling assistant in the open office room where many employees work to fill out paperwork daily. After meeting someone who was a creative editor in another department, I became interested in learning about his responsibilities and later, he referred me to what became almost my dream job. I was writing, editing and producing short form film and TV trailers from a plethora of networks like Disney, FOX, NBC, Universal, Hallmark, Warner Bros, Pixar, etc. It was the best job I could have ever asked for. HR was wonderful, my manager and my teammates were really just great professional people.

A few months later, the company hired a new CEO who let go 20% of the workforce and delegated another manager and his small crew to take over my team. From the get-go, it was clear new management wasn't open to considering the same creative efforts producers and editors once had to design these short-form projects. And it was clear there was no respect for anyone else's ideas.
