Svantaggi
Engineering leadership have lost the plot. Pushing us to "go faster" and giving us unreasonable deadlines, constantly adding scope or changing direction part-way through a project, because we have AI now - which is all well and good, but as frontend developers we can only go as fast as our backend counterparts. Planning is awful - we all know when the big sporting events are going to be (Super Bowl, World Cup, NFL week 1, etc). Yet projects are kicked off far too late, meaning we have to work overtime just to get features shipped (even if half-baked). But don't worry, you'll get lieu days, just hope they don't lay you off before you can take them! Some staff developers here have a god complex and will dictate and refactor large parts of the codebase without consultation, but take no responsibility when they break features they don't fully understand, forcing others to be paged and pick up the pieces. And there are EMs that enable this behaviour. If you're employed and considering an opportunity here, DON'T! And if you're unemployed, make sure to have a plan B. Layoffs are to be expected and they'll continue to trim headcount down to the bare minimum. Any ounce of culture that was here when the Levy's were around is gone. The Americans have truly destroyed what was once an iconic Canadian brand.
