As part of the “Paint the Town Mango” cocktail competition, five bartenders from around the US brought their best creations, highlighting the sweet heat of this refreshing and balanced spirit. Did you know that Myers’s Dark Rum is the original dark rum of the Mai Tai? Created in 1944 by Trader Vic and brought to fame in Hawaii, the first-recorded Mai Tai recipe in 1956 by Trader Vic himself includes Myers’s as an ingredient. This #NationalRumDay, we’re mixing things up with a “My” Tai, our own take on the classic. Myers’s “My” Tai: ¾oz Myers’s Dark Rum 1¼ oz white rum 1 oz lime juice ½ oz curacao orange liqueur Heavy ¼ oz simple syrup Heavy ¼ oz orgeat Combine all ingredients in rocks glass and add ice. Garnish with mint, pineapple, and a cherry. Optional: Add an extra shot of Myers’s to top off!
