Interviewed at a career fair with a district manager, very straight-forward questions, all "by the book". For some reason the focus was on dealing with insubordination. Got called approximately two weeks later to see if I was interested in a different office than specified. I said yes, and was flown out to the office (expenses paid). Completed a simple scale-oriented personality assessment online (20 minutes) before flying out. I interviewed onsite with a VP, and a few regional managers. Before the interview, I was given a "spielling and grammer and maths test" (about 30 minutes). Not sure what they do with the results. The interview questions were straightforward in a "salesman" format. Basically you had to talk fast and sell yourself. Some interviewers were prepared, others had never seen my resume, so be prepared to repeat yourself a lot to the people within the company during the day. Had lunch with a lot of managers. First round interview was s video interview with each question having a prerecorded question, then 30 seconds of prep time to answer the question with about 2 minutes of time. You sit at a device of your choosing and stare at yourself the entire time.
Communications started with 3rd party recruiter. Behavioral interview, asked about experience, leadership, communication abilities, weaknesses you have. Moved on to next round. In-person interview following this with Aldi executive. Similar format to initial interview, mainly behavioral, noticed a complete lack of organization.
Every question in 2nd round was a follow-up to the previous question. Having interviewed for many roles across many industries over the years, this interview was an interrogation, not a conversation. Experience led me to believe that Aldi, or this specific interviewer, struggles to see candidates for the District Manager role beyond 'assets'. Makes you wonder if corporate Aldi has a similar effect on other peoples souls. See for yourself!
