Everything went smooth early in the interview process and the hiring manager seemed very excited about moving forward throughout the 3 phase interview process. I received an email from the hiring manager saying they were planning to extend an offer next week when they were cleared to do it. That's where the shittyness began.
The next week when they had said nothing by Friday, I called the HR rep and asked if they were still planning to give me an offer. She gave me a long story about how they really wanted to but Corporate imposed a hiring freeze and they may be able to hire again in 2 months. I wished them well and continued my job search. After 2 months I was still unemployed so I followed up with them and was told they still couldn't hire. I reiterated that if anything changes we have each other's contact info and I'd be glad to consider the job if I was still available whenever things changed.
Fast forward another 2 months of nothing and I finally got a copy and paste form email saying they enjoyed getting to know me but moved forward with a candidate that was a closer match. What?! Are these people even human?
