      I had the unfortunate experience of interviewing with this company's CEO who possessed a mean and hot-tempered demeanor, fitting the stereotype of a boomer executive. The interview took place in a small and messy boardroom with a table and cheap faux leather chairs. Here's a description of that unpleasant encounter: As I entered the boardroom, the CEO, a stern-looking individual, greeted me with a curt nod and motioned for me to take a seat. He wasted no time getting straight to business, skipping any pleasantries or small talk. The atmosphere in the room was tense, and it was clear that this CEO had a reputation for being difficult. Throughout the interview, the CEO's impatience and irritability became increasingly apparent. Whenever I tried to provide an answer to his questions, he would interrupt me mid-sentence with a condescending tone, dismissing my ideas without giving them a fair chance. It was as if he was intentionally trying to belittle me and make me feel incompetent. As the interview progressed, the CEO's temper flared up more frequently. He would raise his voice, and use harsh language to express his dissatisfaction with my responses. It seemed like he took pleasure in intimidating and overpowering candidates, attempting to assert his dominance and authority at every opportunity. Furthermore, the CEO's questions were designed to provoke stress and discomfort. He asked hypothetical scenarios that were nearly impossible to answer without extensive knowledge or experience. When I attempted to reason through those challenges, he would shoot down my logic, disregarding any alternative viewpoints or creative problem-solving approaches. The entire interview felt like a relentless assault on my confidence and abilities. The CEO's harsh demeanor and dismissive attitude made it abundantly clear that he had no interest in fostering a positive or supportive work environment. Instead, he seemed to derive satisfaction from asserting his authority and making candidates feel small. Leaving the interview, I couldn't help but feel relieved that I wouldn't have to work under such an oppressive and toxic leader. It was a stark reminder that even in professional settings, some individuals may exhibit behaviors that are detrimental to the well-being and growth of their employees.

      While I appreciate that the company was willing to accommodate my scheduling constraints, the overall interview process felt disorganized. During the interview, the tone and delivery came across as dismissive and, at times, disrespectful. I received an offer on the same day; however, the proposed compensation was approximately 30% below my last drawn salary. While I understand that compensation can vary across roles and organizations, the significant gap raised concerns about alignment and how candidates are assessed and valued. Overall, the experience left the impression of a lack of structure in the hiring process and a disconnect in expectations. Candidates may benefit from clarifying role scope and compensation range early in the process.
