I've worked at Abercrombie (kids store) since August of 2009. I needed a part time job and a friend of mine started working there, so I asked her to put in my name. They called me a few days later and asked if I'd like to come in for a group interview, giving me a choice of different times that they were holding the interviews. When I went in the asked if I had an application, which I did not, because I was referred by a friend and had never filled one out. They sent me over to the little kiosk in the corner of the store to fill out my application, and when I was finished I waited for the group interview to start. A manager took me and a few other people (like 3 or 4 i think, i don't really remember) out into the mall and found a little sitting area for us to interview in. She asked questions the group questions, and we each answered most of them, although there were 1 or 2 questions that only some of the group answered. Be prepared to answer all of them, though. I was very casual and laid back, not too nerve wracking at all. The manager did a lot of talking too, including giving us her background information, and telling us a little about the store, what the position entitles, the look policy, and the salary. When we were finished we were allowed to leave and were told that we would get a call within the next 2 weeks. I got my call LITERALLY the last day of the next 2 weeks. My friend had gotten offered her position the day after her interview, so I had assumed I didn't get the job when they didn't call. But, on the last day of the 2 weeks I was called and offered a position. After being offered the position I was asked to come in for orientation, where I watched a video about theft and how to avoid it, and then was given a little 1:1 quiz by the manager about what I learned from the video (what to do if you see someone steal, blah blah blah). I was given an associates card and a manual (although, every single person i've worked with who I've asked about this has never gotten a manual. I don't know why I got one, because no one else did.) I called back later to find out when I would start, and from then on I continued my job for the next 2 years.
