Everything seemed to be going well. The HR said they were ready to proceed with an offer and even asked for references from my previous job. Then I waited for three weeks expecting the offer, but in the end, he told me they had decided not to move forward. In my view, it is unprofessional to tell a candidate that an offer is coming when the company has not yet made a final decision and other hiring processes are still ongoing. It creates false expectations and wastes the candidate's time.
