      Colloquio

I sent my application online. Their HR contacted me after about 2 months and from there onwards, the process was relatively smooth and quick. From my observation, they worked very efficiently across time zones and departments. The entire interview process gave me a very good impression of the company - my interest in joining the company was about 75-80%. However, this quickly decreased to 30-40% when their HR pushed me to give up my salary history and even made me provide my past pay slips even as far back as 5 years ago when my experience wasn't even a match for where I am at today. When I said I couldn't provide any pay slip (first time ever in my 10+ years of work experience!!), their HR asked me to provide my bank statement!! Not only was their request intrusive, but I also found them very rude to be making such a request in the first place. First, they should be able to make an offer based on their budget, my experience and the market range without knowing my past salary. Second, pay slips are technically confidential between my past employers and me and also reflect confidential corporate information that are of no business to other companies. Third, the HR who contacted me first (she later went on maternity leave so another HR followed up) refused to share with me their salary range for this role - she even said to me (her exact words), "We of course have a budget but I will not tell you." So this company refuses to share with me this key piece of information yet they demand to know my past salary history?? Hiring is a mutual process and the relationship between a hiring company and candidates should be equal, instead of hierarchical. On top of the above, the first HR even warned me before I provided her my expected salary range that "Just to remind you that this is a in-house role and salary is normally lower than the agency/consultant roles you are used to in the past." How arrogant! I gave my rating as "No Opinion" because of the attitude of their (first) HR and their HR policies. But I am still very happy with the project team. Don't let bureaucracy/ridiculous HR policies bring down the company! As I refused to give up my pay slips/bank statements, I was prepared to receive a No from them - I couldn't care less. Indeed, I have been wondering why they are hiring for this role now - they have no one on the team in China which is such a strategic and important market for them and this is strange since they aren't new to the market. A quick search on Linkedin shows that they used to have someone before when they were still part of Johnsons Control. I think I know the reason now.

      Domanda 1

Pushing me for my pay slips and bank statements is really out of line.
