Poor Experience, hiring manager seemed disinterested in me from the start, though I still passed and got the take home assessment. Imo, i did decent enough on the assessment but they chose not to have a code review interview and rejected me

Initially there was a take home assignment followed by a technical interview to review it. Pretty standard questions regarding approach and alternatives. System design interview, and then some personality interviews with various departments.

30 minute phone screen with an employee after they reached out via e-mail. They reached out for a part-time contract role. I expressed interest in the role, as well as a full-time employee role that they also had open. They allowed me to apply for both, with preference on the full-time role. On paper, I exceeded the minimum experience requirements for both roles by a few years. The call was casual and friendly. They asked me some questions about my work history, why I wanted to work for AllTrails, and let me ask a few questions myself. I gave them a rundown of my work history. I told them I was excited to work on an app that I enjoy using and feel passionate about. I asked them about team size, sprint planning, company culture, and what the teams were working on. The call seemed to go well and I was told I’d hear back from them soon. The next day, I sent them a follow-up e-mail thanking them for their time and reiterating my interest in the roles. A day after my e-mail, they replied. They told me that they enjoyed our conversation, but that they were moving forward with other candidates. Considering that they said the phone screen went well, and that I exceeded their experience requirements; I was confused as to why I wasn’t proceeding to the technical interview. I politely reached out to see if it was a timing issue, or if there was something I was missing that they were looking for. They never gave me a response.
