Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite l'università. La procedura ha richiesto 4 settimane. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso AlphaSights (New York, NY) nel mese di nov 2016
Colloquio
First round was a resume drop. They really value potential applicants with high GPAs who are engaged in their community and extra curriculors. They care less about specific majors or specific activity involvements. Next round was an on campus interview with a manager or a Vice President. They basically walked through my resume and asked me some basic behavioral questions: Why your school/major/internship. And then I was invited to their New York office. **Note: they only pay for transportation to NYC. They do not help you at all finding a hotel and do not pay for the Uber/taxi rides to and from the airport, train station or actually to the interview. I ended up shelling out close to $150 of my own money for this interview. The interview lasted exactly two hours and was broken down into two, one hour sessions. The employees I spoke to were very nice and friendly but they basically just lock you in a conference room for those two hours and walk you through the BREAD model. It would've been nice to get a tour of the office as it is seems to be a really neat space.
Hour 1: AlphaSights manager came in and we gave each other our elevator pitches. She then immediately asked me to explain the BREAD model to her. She gave me some feedback and then gave me a small case. Three different client questions/who the client may want to speak to and they give you a laptop and tell you you have 15 minutes to pick two of the cases and find two potential advisors (a total of 4). She then came back in and we discussed who I chose. She gave me feedback about what I did well and what I could've done better. After that we simulated a call like I was an AlphaSights associate and she was the potential advisor. I had to explain what AlphaSights was and then ask her appropriate questions to see if she would be a good match for the client. Gave more feedback at the end.
Hour Two: second employee came in and we discussed my conversation with the first employee. Then she asked me to pick one of the cases and think of three good potential advisors. Simulated a phone call like she was the client and I had to sell her on the advisors you chose. Key here is not to use the exact advisors you chose in round one, but rather to internalize the feedback that you got and make up elements of the people that would make them the perfect advisors. Be as creative as you can. They also ask you to estimate what you think would be a reasonable rate for their advisor and their client (hint: AlphaSights wants to be a luxury brand so their client rate is quite high). Then we did a brief resume walk through and she asked me a couple of basic behavioral questions, nothing out of the ordinary or particularly tricky.
Interview process was ok, several stages and language test as it was a particular language speaking role, only downside really was very little feedback given at the end when not successful. When I asked for a feedback call as to why I wasn’t successful they didn’t answer my question and it was a 2 mins call saying that I was just unsuccessful.
