I applied online and was excited to get a callback. Interviewed with an HR firm that was brought in by AO to assist with their hiring as they don't have their own HR/operations department. This was a very strange experience, where about 75% of the interview seemed more concerned with my work history (where I had worked, what those organizations did, the organization size and the reporting structure). I honestly felt like they were less interested in me as a candidate and more interested in the places where I had worked as some of these questions were answerable via an internet search or on my resume. I only had about 15 minutes out of an hour to ask questions about the job itself and it was less of a conversation but felt a bit more like an interrogation. To be clear, the interviewers I interacted with via the conversation or in email seemed professional and polite, but the interview itself was not useful as a candidate in learning more about the organization, team or the job or a way for me to show why I would be a good fit, etc. I would have loved to have spoken directly with the AO's team but after this interview I was significantly less interested in the position and was not surprised I did not advance.

pretty standard, a short interview with the HR director than moved to next rounds with the research team. A lot of the questions were pretty traditional and it was hard to tell if they were going to get the answers they were looking for by asking them. Overall everyone was very friendly.
