The process started with a phone call with the recruiter. (It's important to note that the company initially reached out to me, emphasizing that I was a strong fit for the role — I did not apply proactively).
During the call, I clearly stated that my Linux experience is basic and not hands-on, and it was acknowledged by the recruiter.
The next step was a scheduled interview with the Director of EMEA Customer Support. However, just five minutes before the meeting, I was told the position was suddenly placed “on hold” and the interview was canceled — while I was already in the call.
A few hours later, I received another message from the company saying the position was back and that they’d still like to proceed with the interview.
Today, I had the interview with the Director, and again I was asked about my Linux experience, only to be told that hands-on knowledge is a must and there’s no flexibility.
I had already explained that I don't have hands-on Linux experience — both in this process and in a previous interview with the same company a year ago, where I was disqualified immediately for the same reason, without any technical assessment.
Overall, this felt like a frustrating waste of time.
