      Colloquio

HR reached out via Linkedin to schedule a quick phone screen. A second phone screen was subsequently scheduled. After that, I was asked to come in for a potential full day of interviews. This was great, except for the fact that a specific date and time was sent through without asking for availabilities. Luckily I was able to make this work, but requiring a full day off for an initial interview was pretty aggressive. The day's schedule was to have two separate hour-long interviews in the morning, a lunch, and then a decision point for AppNexus. They would let you know if you were going to be brought back for the afternoon session of more interviews. When I arrived in the morning, I was surprised to find three other candidates also there for interviews. We were given a group tour of the office, and then separated into our own conference rooms. We were told it wasn't a "Hunger Games style interview", but in reality, it was. This seemed like a setup for an entry-level position, rather than a position targeting someone with 8+ years of professional experience. The first of the two interviews was a normal conversational interview. The second one was more focused on knowledge and those annoying logic brain teaser questions made famous by Google. I guess they missed the memo where Google no longer utilizes these types of questions in their interview process. Overall, it was clear that each interviewer had a specific agenda for the interviews with specific criteria for evaluating the candidate. We were given sandwiches from Pret for lunch, and then they came in with the decision. Ultimately I was not asked back, but I know someone who was on another interview and it was more of the same. All in all I thought that the interview process was a bit demeaning for someone coming in with almost 10 years of experience, especially given that they had reached out initially. I understand this may come off as bitter, but being expected to take a full day off for this interview process, which ultimately wasn't even needed, was a waste of time. Also, being given a specific day without asking if I was available was a little strange.

I was recommanded by an employee and postulated online. The duration of the all process was about a month+ from the first contact to the offer. After 7 interviews (calls, video-calls and in-person), the offer was made very quickly. The process was very well organized and managed. I really enjoy to meet the team.

I was very impressed with how professional, transparent, and efficient the entire interview process was. After a few initial rounds of phone conversations and an in-person meeting with the hiring manager, I was invited to an all-day on-site interview, which consisted of several back-to-back hour long interviews with various members of the team as well as other key members of the company. The interviews progressed from behavioral to technical - by the end of the day I felt like I had a good sense of the company's values/culture, and they had a good idea of who I am as well as how I think. The hiring manager and my HR point person made the process feel effortless because they were so great with communication. They were very responsive and incredibly patient with all my questions about the company, team, and role. I also appreciate how understanding they were of my schedule, which I admit was probably a bit difficult to work around. In addition to the hiring manager and HR, other members of the company I spoke to were also super helpful, and everyone so genuinely loved what they were doing that it got me really excited about the opportunity to join.

I knew a couple of people who worked there. They introduced me to a member of the team and his manager. The team member was really nice, sat me in an office and informally went over his role and asked me questions. We had a great conversation. It lasted an hour. I was interested in learning more about the role, and he was interested in shooting me over to his manager. So it went well. I set up a time to speak to the manager after he reached out via e-mail. We set up a call, because it was difficult for me to get out of work again to see them. The call was an hour. It was pretty informal, but this time more questions were directed towards my style of thinking, problem-solving, and communicating with clients. Again, it went well. I enjoyed speaking with him immensely and he said he was very interested in moving forward. He said he would be traveling and would reach out in a week or so with directives from HR on the next steps. I e-mailed him because I hadn't heard fro him in a couple of weeks. I got no reply. I spoke to my friend the week after. My friend contacted him, he said he would reach out later that day. He didn't contact me, so I contacted my friend to let him know. A week passed and I still got no contact. TLDR: I was slated to move into the next rounds (and told so by the hiring manager), yet he went radio silent. Even contacting friends on the inside didn't change anything. He told them he would reach out and didn't reach out. In the end, it may have been a blessing in disguise because I did have a flaky hiring manager for a past job who turned out to be a nightmare to work for.
