Recruited via LinkedIn. Process took about 3 weeks. All virtual.
- Initial phone screen with recruiter
- 30 min interview with hiring manager - they were 5 min late and had a hard stop so felt kind of rushed. Fairly straightforward and informal "tell me about yourself, about a project you were proud of" etc.
- Asked to provide a work sample
- About a week later, back to back 30 min interviews with a senior manager and a manager within the department. Interview with the senior manager was higher level, talking about what motivates me and my goals, etc. Interview with the manager was a little more technical, discussed my work sample and work process
- 3rd round was back to back 30 minute interviews with 2 Executives. Interview with their new CPO was fairly casual and similar to the prior interviews.
Interview with the CEO (one of the founders) was the most difficult part of the whole process. He immediately quizzed me on what their company does and asked why I wanted to be a part of it. He wanted to know what I knew about "low code". I read a lot about the company so I felt prepared to answer all of these. He asked about the most modern or innovative project I've completed. He then started asking about how I personally like to learn for my job and learn within my personal life, and pointed out that most ways people learn aren't through experiences designed by a traditional instructional design approach. It seemed like he does not agree with traditional instructional design models and is hoping for a candidate who has done things differently in their past jobs. He asked me how I thought things were run at my current company which also seemed like an odd question for an interview. He left me maybe 2 minutes to ask questions and signed off quickly, so this was the only point in the whole process so far where I didn't feel very confident. The position was re-posted to LinkedIn less than an hour later so I was pretty sure at that point I did not get it. The recruiter left me a voicemail saying they were going with another candidate late on Friday. I messaged back asking if I could get specific feedback and was told I won't be able to until over a week later since they'll be out on vacation.
Pretty time consuming process to be left with no specific feedback, so I will be following up when they're back.
