      Colloquio per Store Leader Program

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto 2 giorni. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Apple nel mese di apr 2010

      Colloquio

I applied online (Apple website) in early March and on April 1 I was notified via email that I had been selected for the hiring event. All the Houston-area candidates were invited to a Marriott in the Woodlands in late April to attend a group panel/interview and presentations by Apple, and then of those roughly half were chosen to return for two back-to-back personal interviews the following day. The "hiring event" was broken into an afternoon and morning group, with 30 candidates total. After Apple gave some presentations about the company we all went around the room and introduced ourselves, saying our name and where we were from, why we wanted to work for Apple, what our major was and why we picked it, and a fun fact about ourselves. (Make sure you have a "fun fact" that promotes some of your skills or creativity! Some of the people in my group just said that they had 6 names or something... not helpful.) Then they played a movie promoting Apple and giving statistics and testimonies about how great the company is. (Pay attention to the statistics and have a few key phrases you hear in mind... they will ask after the movie is over what struck you!) The third part of Day 1 was the group project and presentation, which consisted of us splitting into 3 groups, who each had a different real-life store problem to brainstorm and solve together. We then presented our ideas to the group. If selected for the next round, the candidates were asked to return the next day or the day after that to do personal interviews. The format was two back-to-back 30 minute interviews, each with 2 Apple reps interviewing one candidate. The questions were behavioral (but a little more creative than the typical behavioral questions.) It was very relaxed and they genuinely want to get to know you - honest answers that give them a real picture of your personality are better than rehearsed stock answers that praise Apple (although it's always good to show excitement and admiration of the company!) The finals (which I was not selected for) require a video project and an in-store exercise and tour - presumably at the store you applied for. I did not make it this far, but I have heard there is also a background check and drug test, but not until your first week of work. The whole process was a great experience - a fun time that went by very quickly. Apple did not keep its candidates waiting throughout the interview process - from start to finish (including the finals) it took less than a week. Best advice: show A LOT of enthusiasm for Apple and its products, and a HIGH ENERGY level, especially during the group hiring event when it's important to get noticed. I would also recommend brushing up on some background on Apple as a company, and their products, if you are not already an expert. Good Luck!

It was very long. 8 interviews in total before I was told that I was too senior for the role. The recruiter was amazing, and was very into communicating with me until I was no longer in the running for the role.

      Colloquio

I put in a relatively short application on their website around late March. Answered a few questions, attached my resume, and I think my transcript. I'm fairly sure there wasn't a time frame on when they'd get back to me. I knew they'd email if I was selected to advance and that the position starts in September this year. I actually assumed that I just wasn't selected after a while. However, I got an email from an Apple recruiting rep around the 20th of May. Asking what I assume the short phone call used to be for. Clarifying my availability, rights to work, any time off requests for the next 12 months, preferred location, if I'd previously worked at or been interviewed by Apple, and confirming my university, degree and graduation date. My one suggestion for this is specify when your final exams/results are due. My actual graduation ceremony is going to be in October (after September), but my final exams and results will be out in June (before September). After clarifying that I was straight onto the phone interviews. I had to RSVP and choose a time online for that or the next week. or next week. The interviews were for 30 minutes (mine went a little over). I thought it went quite well - it was a one on one interview with the same recruitment rep who I'd been emailing. She asked pretty standard interview questions - how have you overcome challenges at work, customer service experience, why you want to work for Apple, management experience etc. The only other thing was asking what Apple products I had. My interview was on the Thursday and I was told that I'd hear by the end of next week whether I was successful or not. The rep called me the next Thursday with news that I'd made it to the final interviews/group interviews. I'm yet to attend (it's later this month), but they're actually flying me down and paying for the expenses like my accommodation. The RSVP for the day only gave one choice with 5 spots. I'm not sure yet if that means that it's down to 5 people in my nominated city or they've just chosen the day for each of us and we can accept or decline. The actual process from the first email from them until being notified of getting to the final stage has taken under 3 weeks. Since I put the application in, it's more like 2 and a half months. Compared to other graduate programs I've applied to - this process was much easier considering there were no aptitude or personality tests. Found the other information here pretty helpful for the process so I figured I'd contribute one since there's few Australian contributions. I'll try to remember to update this with how the final stage goes.

      Domanda 1

Nothing asked was particularly difficult or totally unexpected. There were no technical questions, and the only thing I'd suggest checking you know is your GPA and specifics about when you can potentially give notice to work. **I'll try to remember to update after the final stage.
